More than just the music...

It has always been a vital part of You Are We that the quality of the music is reflected and complimented by the artwork used in promotions and during the event. Over the years, it has carved out strong imagery that is instantly recognisable, and events see a merge of cutting edge music with visual projection imagery that enhance the whole You Are We experience.

Nick Hope, otherwise known as Dex Addicts, has been the Resident VJ at You Are We since day one, creating atmospheres and designing visuals that suit the sound and enhance the moments we find hard to forget. “It’s important that the You Are We artwork is translated and used with artistic license at each event,” says Sam Matthews of You Are We. “We’ve worked closely with Nick over the years to develop visuals that are design led that can transform the spaces where we hold You Are We. It’s actually the stripped back simplicity of the designs that work beautifully to deliver a great impact on the large blank canvas’ that warehouse venues have to offer.”

Aiming to give You Are We revelers an experience to remember, the visual elements of the party have always been an added element that has set it apart from the rest. 

With its heart lying in East London, You Are We has moved from one great venue to the next, evolving, as it’s loyal following has grown. But limitations on venues mean that clubbers are quite often revisiting the same venues for different parties. “Each time someone comes to one of our events, we want it to feel like they have stepped into this place for the very first time, and they instantly know that they’re at You Are We. Dex Addicts helps us create that feeling, as well as complimenting the style of our event and crowd, and the sound that our resident DJ’s have created,” says Ali Watson, You Are We.

For this party, it’s more than just about the music. The teamwork to deliver an experience from start to finish, and that transpires through the headline bookings and residents, the venue choices, and the visual designs that transform and bring the space to life.

The next You Are We see’s a move to a new space, The Oval in Hackney on the 10th November. With the incredible creatively acclaimed artist, Tone Of Arc headlining, we’re excited to see what Dex Addicts visual set has in store for us.
